2-Week Architecture Internship in Athens, Greece

Description

Diadrasis is a nonprofit organization based on the idea of progressing and developing Conservation Science through the meeting and interaction of different cultures and specializations. Diadrasis’s main aim is the study and development of the sciences of Conservation, Preservation, Restoration, Protection and Dissemination of Cultural Heritage (archaeological, architectural etc) through the interactive activities of different scientists.

Diadrasis is currently seeking an intern to assist in developing the forthcoming international seminar on Architectural stratigraphy. The main aim of this internship is obtaining skills in development of seminars. The internship lasts for two weeks from 24 June – 5 July 2013 in Athens, Greece.

The intern will assist the Course Coordinators in the planning, content development and evaluation documents. The intern’s primary responsibilities will be the preparation of the documentation (plans, glossaries, templates, bibliography) properly guided by the Coordinators.

Eligibility

Applicants should possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Conservation.
  • Good knowledge of English and computer abilities are mandatory.
  • Good knowledge of historical construction techniques and the related terminology.
  • Desirable but not compulsory: some knowledge of archaeology of buildings and comprehension of Spanish, Italian or Greek.

Benefits

The intern will gain thorough knowledge in Architectural stratigraphy methodology and in the ways an international seminar is prepared and developed. Internships are unpaid, but housing in the center of Athens will be provided for the duration of the internship by Diadrasis. Interns must cover their own expenses to and from Athens and have their own medical insurance.
