Description
Participants are invited to apply for Casa Africa Prizes for Essays on African Theme “Challenges and Opportunities of Urban Development in Africa” at University of Basel. This theme covers a range of disciplines, from town planning and architecture to demography, sustainability and environment, sociology and economy, with the African city as the central focus.
The purpose of this award is to recognize, encourage and disseminate original and previously unpublished essays that contribute to a better understanding of the African continent. The essay can be presented in Spanish, English, French or Portuguese.
Award
The award includes the edition of the winning essay as a part of Casa Africa’s essay collection (in collaboration with Los Libros de la Catarata) and 3.500 euros to the author.
Eligibility
- Any person from any country in the EU and/or any country of Africa may take part in the competition
- Only one essay per author will be accepted
Submission procedure
The essays must be sent by e-mail only to the following address premio@casafrica.es. The deadline for submitting essays is Monday 15th July 2013.
