Description

The GVN Foundation believes that empowering women and children is the key to changing the world. They achieve this by providing resources to grassroots organizations working with vulnerable women and children in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The GVN Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization in the United States and has Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

GVN is currently recruiting our 2013 International Interns. The role of International Interns is to represent the GVN Foundation and raise awareness of the Eat So They Can campaign in their region. Eat So They Can inspires people around the world to take action to bring an end to hunger. The funds raised through the campaign are used to improve the nutrition of children and women in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Internships are unpaid but provide the opportunity to make a lasting difference to communities around the world, as well as learn valuable skills and knowledge from the GVN team. You should be able to commit to a minimum of 100 hours over six months. The number of hours per week will vary each week. You should be available to begin on 3rd June, 2013 when the first training session will be held.

Responsibilities

Events

  • Form an Eat So They Can committee in your region, consisting of a minimum of four members.
  • Lead your committee in organizing at least two Eat So They Can advocacy events.
  • Lead your committee in organizing at least two Eat So They Can fundraising events.

Outreach

  • Conduct targeted outreach to groups in your region that could be interested in Eat So They Can.
  • Get at least one article published about Eat So They Can in your local media.

Communications

  • Write a minimum of one blog post for the Eat So They Can blog.
  • Post at least once per month on the Eat So They Can Facebook page.

Training

  • Participate in a minimum of three intern training sessions. These sessions will take place online and will provide you with the tools you need to successfully fulfill your role.

  • Have the opportunity to participate in an Eat So They Can Distribution Trip if you reach the fundraising targets.

Eligibility

  • Be proactive.
  • Be enthusiastic and passionate about GVN’s work.
  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire others to take action.
  • Have a basic understanding of international development issues and an interest in learning more.
  • Have experience in events management.
  • Be able to work both independently and in a team.
