Macedonian Award for Best Young Scientist 2012

Open to: Macedonian citizens. Young individuals up to 30 years of age who have achieved a significant scientific result, or have received an international award or recognition.
Award: 60,000 MKD and the honor “Best Young Scientist 2012” awarded by the president of Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov.

Description

The President of the Republic of Macedonia Dr. Gjorge Ivanov announces the “Best Young Scientist 2012” award for high scientific achievements during the current year. The Best Young Scientist Award was established in 2010. The honor “Best Young Scientist” is awarded by the President of the Republic of Macedonia as an incentive for young scientific and research thought in the Republic of Macedonia.

Science has lead to many revolutionary discoveries throughout the history of mankind, inventions that have prevented the world from destruction, as well as means and ways that make peoples’ lives easier and better in quality. The need and the importance of new scientific solutions are even greater in conditions of accelerated global growth, when it is equally important to consider climate change mitigation, as well as decrease of industrial pollution and tracing of sustainable economic and technological growth.

To ensure the growth of Macedonia’s economy and advancement of its society, Macedonia needs well educated young people, ready to undertake modern and applicable scientific research. For the Republic of Macedonia, it is particularly important to motivate and encourage students and young scientists from various scientific fields, if Macedonia as a country aims to keep pace with the world development agenda, but also become a generator of an educated and quality scientific force.

Prize

The Honor “Best Young Scientist 2012” will be awarded by the president of Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, plus a financial award of 60,000 MKD.

Eligibility

The public announcement is extended towards young individuals up to 30 years of age, who practice science and in their work to date have achieved scientific result, and who have an objective with their scientific work to contribute toward the positive development of society and the environment in which they live and work.

All citizens of the Republic of Macedonia who meet the following requirements have the right to participate

  • have received an international award for scientific research;
  • have received international recognition for scientific research;
  • have received an award for scientific research in the country;
  • have received recognition for scientific research in the country;
  • have published results of scientific research in a relevant international journal;
  • have published results of scientific research in a relevant domestic journal;
  • have applicability of the scientific research results.

Application

The following documents should be submitted in one print and one electronic version (CD):

  • Biography;
  • Realized project(s) during 2012 with which they apply for the award;
  • Proof of Macedonian citizenship.

The documents should be delivered to the Cabinet of the President of Macedonia by 31 December 2012, at the address:
