Paid Internship for Romani Applicants at European Centre for Minority Issues

Description

The European Centre for Minority Issues is looking to nominate a suitable candidate of Romani background for a 2 months paid internship at its headquarters in Flensburg, Germany. The internship will take place in the framework of the programme `Supporting Roma in Academia’, organised and financed by the European Academic Network on Romani Studies.

Eligibility

Internship is open to MA and PhD students and graduates of Romani background, up to five years after completion of studies. Applicants should have good English language skills.
Please note that `Romani background’ will be determined on the basis of applicants’ self-declaration and the Network member´s statement regarding the candidate´s Romani background.

Application procedure

1.ECMI nominee selection
To apply for the nomination, please send an updated CV, a statement of intent containing a research plan (max. 500 words), and a letter explaining how you will benefit from the internship (max. 500 words) to carstocea@ecmi.de.
2. Providing an academic reference
The successful candidate will have to provide an academic reference from a full member of the European Academic Network on Romani Studies (members’ list available here)

The proposal should include the following details:

  • Name of the proposal author, academic affiliation, and contact details
  • Details of the nominee, including an updated CV, the nominee’s statement of intent containing a research plan, and a letter from the nominee explaining how they will benefit from the internship
  • A letter of nomination and academic reference from the proposal author (host) and academic reference from a full member of the Network, and a statement of from the applicant along with the applicant’s CV.
  • A letter of confirmation from the host institution confirming that it will be able to facilitate an internship of up to two months
  • Proposed dates of the internship

Remuneration

The internship will have a duration of maximum two months and must take place before June 2013. Travel to and from ECMI, accommodation, and subsistence costs will be covered, up to a total amount of €3,000.
