Description
The Southeast Europe and the EU – Leadership Development Programme is organized jointly by the European Fund for the Balkans, the College of Europe and the TRANSFUSE Association. The Programme aims to transmit knowledge about the EU and its relation to the SEE, to stimulate the leadership and professional skills of participants and to encourage an exchange of views of young people who aspire to play an active role in the future of their countries. This project is the sole responsibility of the group members who organized it. Fellows of SEE Leadership Development Programme are announcing the call for short stories submission.
Contest
You are asked to send a short story inspired by the EU, its culture and the values it promotes, the process of integration your country is going through and your expectations related to this process. Through your story, SEE Leadership Development Programme wants to discover what does the EU mean for you and how is it affecting your life, your culture and values of your community. The programme wants you to share your vision and view on this process with us through a creative and original storytelling. Both euro – skeptics and euro – optimists will be welcomed.
Some basic guidelines:
- Stories must be previously unpublished.
- Writers can submit only one short story.
- You can write in your mother tongue or in English.
- Stories should not exceed 3000 or be less than 1000 words.
- Organizers retain the rights of publishing the stories.
Prizes
Financial rewards have been prepared for the authors of three best stories (1st ranked 200 euros, 2nd ranked 150 euros, 3rd ranked 100 euros ). Collection of fifteen best stories will be published with translations to English in a book and on our website. The winner will be offered to present his story at the promotion event, scheduled for 09th of March, 2012 in Novi Sad.
Eligibility
High school students (14 – 19 years old) from South East Europe.
How to apply?
The call officially starts on 25th of October and finishes on 25th of December 2011. The winners and the selection of the best contributions will be announced on 01st of February 2012. If you want to know where to submit your stories, please write an email to thinkabout@europe.com.
