Description

The project will be realized in the Department of Biophysics, Institute of Physics, Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, Lublin, Poland, within the framework of the project “Molecular Spectroscopy for BioMedical Studies” financed by the Foundation for Polish Science (the TEAM program). The successful candidate will realize a research project „Application of plasmonic platforms to study molecular organization of membrane proteins and membrane-active biomolecules”.
The contract begins on 1 October 2011 and will last maximally 3 years and 8 months.
Bursary: 3 500 PLN/month (including 500 PLN/month health insurance)

The candidate has to apply and to be admitted to the Graduate School of Physics at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin (Studium Doktoranckie Fizyki przy Uniwersytecie Marii Curie-Sklodowskiej w Lublinie) or to other graduate school in Lublin.

Eligibility

Candidates have to:

  • hold a MSc or equivalent degree in physics or in other related natural science disciplines, such as: biophysics, etc.,
  • demonstrate exceptional motivation, creativity and problem-solving ability.

list of published papers and communicates (if applicable)
description of previous research activity (within the MSc project)
recommendation letter (at least one) with e-mail address and telephone number of recommending person
list of attended scientific conferences (if applicable)
list of fellowships (if applicable)
the duplicate of the MSc diploma or the document which certifies that candidate is a holder of a MSc or equivalent degree.
a certified list of courses taken during last cycle of studies, with grades

Application deadline is 29 August  2011 and all necessary documents must be sent to the post address below.
Receiving of each application will be acknowledged by e-mail sent to the candidate address indicated in the cover letter.

The selection will be based upon the following criteria:
– interview on the subject related directly to the project to be realized
– documented experience in carrying out research which fit best to the project
– publication record
– recommendation letters
– motivation letter
The shortlisted candidates will be informed on an interview via e-mail communication on August 30-th, 2011. Interviews of shortlisted candidates will take place in Lublin or via the internet or telephone connection, on September 12, 2011.
