YOUKI is a lively communication facility, a celebration of the popularisation of young media culture. In essence, YOUKI can be described as a comprehensive, passionate celebration of media. This year (2011) YOUKI will take place from 22nd-26th November.
The YOUKI audience is diverse: young film enthusiasts, industry professionals, media fans, media teachers and of course young filmmakers. It is these filmmakers who will be showcasing their works to the other guests during the festival. Filmmakers from across Europe, Canada, USA, South Korea and Argentina have already featured at YOUKI festival in Wels.
YOUKI offers an important platform for showcasing young Austrian and international filmmakers.
A panel of well-known judges awards three prizes for three different age groups (10-14/15-19/20-26) as well as the “Innovative Film Award” which focuses more on theme, content and current media developments rather than cinematic perfection.
Furthermore, the Audience Award is a favourite chosen by the people attending the festival.
Eligibility
Eligible are young people with individual or group works, home or school projects. To participate in the YOUKI competition young people must be between the ages of 10 and 26 (at the time of production). The competition is divided into 3 age groups (10-14 | 15-19 | 20-26 years old).
YOUKI is an international festival – English subtitles are encouraged!
Prizes
There are three award categories according to age group. Maximum film length for all submissions is 20 minutes. All films shown at the festival will also compete for the sought-after Audience Award as well as for the Innovative Film Award, which is offered for the second time this year. This award honors different and maybe even new perspectives on filmmaking: outstanding and autonomous positions in contemporary media developments, especially in terms of form and content, are favored over filmic perfection.

Submission
Please submit your film on Video-DVD.
Unless a seperate screening-copy is included, this DVD will be used for the screenings.
All films will be presented digitally with professional cinema technology.
For financial reasons your copies cannot be returned, but Pickup is possible. YOUKI accepts no liability for damage to tapes.
