Description:
The RIHN Visiting Research Fellow Scheme, offered by the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN), provides an excellent opportunity for scholars for the period of two to six months to engage in specific research in the context of one of the RIHN Programs, Projects, Divisions, Centers or Units to conduct interdisciplinary research that addresses the pressing environmental and societal challenges of our time. The program fosters international academic collaboration and facilitates new research networks.
Fellows will engage in research projects that explore themes central to RIHN’s mission, including climate change, biodiversity, and resource management. Participants will benefit from working within RIHN’s community, accessing unique resources, and collaborating with experts in various fields.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent degree.
- Open to researchers of any nationality with demonstrated expertise in fields relevant to RIHN’s interdisciplinary research themes.
- Applicant must be a researcher who is employed in an overseas research institute (including those with Japanese nationality) or a non-Japanese researcher who is employed at a university or a research institute in Japan (Applicants should maintain their employment status at the home institution until the end of placement at RIHN).
- Candidates should propose a research project that aligns with the Institute’s focus on human-environmental interaction.
- Proficiency in English is required, as research discussions and documentation are conducted in English.
