Description:

The Deutsche Welle (DW) Traineeship 2026-2027 is a comprehensive 18-month program designed to train the next generation of multimedia journalists. Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international broadcaster, offers young professionals the opportunity to learn about all aspects of modern journalism—radio, TV, online, and mobile formats. The program emphasizes multimedia storytelling, data journalism, and social media integration. Trainees will participate in workshops led by experienced DW journalists, receive hands-on training, and take part in reporting projects both in Germany and internationally.

Throughout the program, trainees will have the opportunity to rotate between DW’s editorial departments, working in English, German, and other DW languages, giving them a broad understanding of international journalism and the media landscape. The program also includes international assignments in one of DW’s global bureaus.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must have completed a university degree (preferably in journalism, communications, or related fields).
  • Practical experience in journalism is strongly preferred (internships, freelance work, or professional experience in media).
  • Fluency in English is required. German language skills are highly advantageous, and proficiency in additional languages (such as Arabic, Spanish, or Russian) is a plus.
  • Applicants should have a strong interest in international affairs and media trends.
