Description:

The 2025 Elsevier Foundation Chemistry for Climate Action Challenge supports innovative green and sustainable chemistry solutions in the Global South. The program aims to advance Climate Action (SDG 13) and Gender Equity (SDG 5). Two winning projects will receive $25,000 each. The winners will present their projects at the 9th Elsevier Green & Sustainable Chemistry Conference in Punne, India, from March 3-6, 2025. The challenge encourages the development of scale-ups, focusing on areas such as waste utilization, alternative energy, and sustainable agriculture.

Eligibility:

  • Open to projects in low-and-middle-income countries.
  • The prize targets early-stage projects where the $25,000 funding represents the majority of the budget.
  • Projects must have a strong focus on gender equity and be implemented with local partners in the Global South.

Benefits:

  • The challenge offers $25,000 per winning project, supporting the implementation of sustainable chemistry solutions. Funds must not be primarily used for expensive equipment or personnel costs.
