Eligible Candidates

In all cases candidates who are employed and supported by an institute or university in a developing country that has signed a co-operation agreement with the University of Groningen and who receive an income from that institution will be given preferential treatment.  Candidates should: be nationals of and have their permanent residence in one of the country’s listed, have a good command of the English language, be in good health so health insurance in the Netherlands can be arranged, be available for the whole period of the fellowship and be able to take part in the entire study programme, have no other means of financing the study in question.

Further criteria for approval

  • academic excellence, shown by academic performance and may be confirmed by letters of recommendation from university professors
  • contribution of candidate’s education in terms of strengthening the scientific capacity in the candidate’s home country
  • perspectives to a long-term linkage between the home institution and the University of Groningen

Grant Information

The grant is usually awarded for a maximum of 2 years for a Master’s degree programme. The grant covers the tuition fees plus the costs of international travel, subsistence, books, and health insurance. It covers expenses incurred in traveling to and from the Netherlands for PhD candidates for a maximum of 4 times. For specific information, please check the rules & regulations.

Deadline

Applicants need to meet the deadline of the respective Master’s or PhD programmes. Application forms for Master’s programmes can be found through the websites or Admissions Offices of the respective faculty or Graduate School . Application deadline for the scholarship is 22 February. Applications for student scholarships can be submitted by students from one of the eligible countries for a Master’s or equivalent programme at the University of Groningen.

How to Apply

  1. First the candidate should apply for admission to a study programme at the University of Groningen .
  2. When the candidate applies for this admission, he or she must indicate on the application form that his/her study performance is excellent and that he/she wishes to be nominated for a Eric Bleumink Fund scholarship.
  3. If the study programme agrees with the candidacy for a EBF scholarship, they will send a standard application form including the motivation of the candidate to the Board of the Eric Bleumink Fund prior to 1 March. Per study programme only two candidates can be nominated.
  4. The Board of the Eric Bleumink Fund will take a decision during their meeting in March.
  5. The study programme and the candidate will both be informed on the decision taken by the Board.
  6. If a candidate is selected the coordinator and the candidate will have contact on the details of his or her arrival. If necessary he/she can contact the Board of the Eric Bleumink Fund for extra assistance.

Speech van de demoWij bewoners, vrijeilligwr, initiatiefnemers, sympathisanten en klanten van de weggeefwinkel staan hier vandaag niet alleen tegen de ontruiming van de weggeefwinkel, maar ook tegen het ontruimen VOOR ANTIKRAAK EN LEEGSTANDSinds 10 december 2008 is Boterdiep 34 gekraakt en is het in gebruik door de weggeefwinkel. Maandag 20 december is deze winkel gedagvaard om plaats te maken voor een tijdelijk kunst initiatief door middel van een tijdelijk antikraak contract.De Weggeefwinkel is een kringloopwinkel die geheel op vrijeilligwrs draait en waar alles gratis is. Wie spullen over heeft doneert ze en wie iets nodig heeft kan het gratis meenemen of een vrijwillige donatie doen. De weggeefwinkel heeft een geschiedenis van ongeveer 10 jaar in Groningen op verschillende locaties. Wij bieden een plek die niet om geld of status draait, maar om solidariteit en menselijkheid. Per week mogen wij meer dan honderd klanten ontvangen. We staan in de straatgids vermeld, die is uitgegeven met steun van de gemeente. Veel studenten, minima, kunstenaars, daklozen, alleenstaande (ouders) en milieu bewuste mensen maken gebruik van dit initiatief.In 2009 hebben wij duidelijke mondelinge afspraken gemaakt met Nijestee. Wij werken namelijk mee aan bezichtigingen en als er sprake is van een serieuze huurder of koper, vertrekken wij vrijwillig na een termijn van ten minste 14 dagen.Sinds 8 oktober 2010, een week na het kraakverbod(!), ontkent Nijestee echter deze afspraken. Zij stellen dat het pand een slechte uitstraling heeft en eruit ziet als een volgestapeld pakhuis. De wijze waarop er gewoond en gebruik word gemaakt van het pand is in de ogen van Nijestee niet aantrekkelijk voor verkoop of verhuur.Wij voelen ons beledigd door Nijestee. Wij vinden dat we goed voor het pand zorgen en het is jammer dat Nijestee de sociale functie die wij vervullen niet wil zien.Wij vinden het een verwerpelijk dat juist een woningbouwcorporatie als Nijestee, die zegt op te komen voor sociaal zwakkeren in de samenleving, door middel van het sluiten van een rechteloos bruikleen contract, mensen met idealen en een maatschappelijk sociale functie in te ruilen voor een zeer tijdelijke kunst project, die overigens 3 weken open wordt gesteld aan publiek en daarna verder reist, om vervolgens vrij te kunnen speculeren door middel van LEEGSTAND. Veel mensen die gebruik maken van antikraak beseffen vaak niet dat er word gespeculeerd met leegstand over de rug van hen zelf. Maar ook over de rug van de kraakbeweging. Velen staan niet ingeschreven als woningzoekenden omdat zij in de veronderstelling zijn dat ze niet woningzoekend zijn. Daardoor word er niet goed in kaart gebracht hoe groot de woningnood precies is.Initiatieven zijn in de kiem gesmoord omwille van antikraak en leegstand, denk aan groenland achmea frappand, Hoendiep 2, Trefkoel, Uurwerkersgang, op drift, oude vrije school, de vorige weggeefwinkel in de Kerklaan en de Helperoostersingel tot 5 keer toe!!Er word zelfs gekraakt voor antikraak doeleinden.Als je als antikraker deelneemt aan de oorzaak van een ontruiming kun je logischerwijs verwachten dat je niet buiten een conflict kunt worden gehouden.Een antikraker is alleen op zoek naar goedkope woonruimte, daarentegen heeft de kraakbeweging gevochten en gestreden voor hun woonrecht en een meer open en culturele wereld waar je met een laag inkomen ook gezellig in mee kan doen op basis van vrijeilligwrs en idealisten. De kraakbeweging en haar initiatieven zijn voor iedereen. Wij kennen geen uitschot.A.s. donderdag 20 januari om 11.00 dient zich een kort geding aan, aangespannen door Nijestee.Mocht de rechter in het kort geding van komende week door een rechterlijke dwaling beslissen dat wij ons pand aan het Boterdiep moeten verlaten, dan verzoeken wij de gemeente, en in het bijzonder burgemeester Rehwinkel, om niet mee te werken aan een ontruiming t.b.v. antikraak . Dankzij kraken is het mogelijk een initiatief als de weggeefwinkel te realiseren. Een weggeefwinkel maakt geen omzet en ontvangt over het algemeen geen subsidies. Daarom kan het niet bestaan in een huurpand en wil het niet bestaan in een antikraakpand. Groningen heeft een rijke kraakhistorie, waaruit vele mooie initiatieven zijn voortgekomen zoals het Grand Theatre aan de Grote Markt en het Oude Rooms-katholieke Ziekenhuis, het viaduct en Simplon. De stad mag dit soort sociale projecten niet verliezen door een woningbouwcorporatie die alleen maar aan geld denkt.Wij nodigen u van harte uit om eens een kijkje te nemen in de weggeefwinkel. U kan uw steun betuigen door de rechtzaak bij te wonen op 20 januari of loop, huppel, schreeuw en trommel mee voor de weggeef winkel.Er is genoeg voor ieders behoeft, maar niet voor ieders hebzucht. (ghandi)Hoe sociaal is het gezicht van Nijestee werkelijk, als zij een weggeef winkel, haar bewoners en klanten in de kou laten staan!?De weggeefwinkel moet blijven, geen ontruiming voor antikraak!!!!!De weggeefwinkel moet blijven, geen ontruiming voor leegstand!!!!!KRAKEN GAAT DOOR!!!Gratis is goed, alles voor niks!!!!
