Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Research and Studies on Eastern Europe (MIREES)

The Call for Application for the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Research and Studies on Eastern Europe (MIREES) is now open. Choose MIREES to acquire an in-depth knowledge of Eastern European history, politics, economic and languages to shape your future as an area expert.

MIREES is a joint program offered by the Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna – Forlì Campus, Italy, together with the Vytautas Magnus University (Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas), Lithuania, and the Saint Petersburg State University, Russian Federation.

Programme overview

The two-year international Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Research and Studies on Eastern Europe (MIREES) is a joint program offered by the University of Bologna (Italy), Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas (Lithuania) and the St. Petersburg State University (Russian Federation).

The degree programme is entirely taught in English (120 ECTS) and offers interdisciplinary, in-depth knowledge of post-socialist countries in transition, new EU member states, and new East-European neighbor countries. Students develop language skills by learning one Eastern European language (3 levels of Russian, Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian, Bulgarian, Slovak; Hungarian and Lithuanian are available in the second year).

Enrolled students spend the first year in Forlì. In the second year, a minimum of 5 months will be spent at one of the Partner Universities or, in particular cases, at other Mirees associated Universities (Universities of Zagreb, University of Ljubljana, Corvinus University of Budapest, Comenius University in Bratislava). A mobility grant is offered to all enrolled students, thanks to Erasmus +  or the MIREES mobility scheme. Internship and research opportunities are available in the fourth semester.

Tuition fees
The amount of the annual tuition fees for the academic year 2018/2019 and the calculation of the fees on the basis of the student’s economic conditions are published on the University website at http://www.unibo.it/en/teaching/enrolment-transfer-and-final-examination/tuition-fees-and-exemptions/tuition-fees as soon as they are available.
