Description
Cardiff University is pleased to offer studentship in Chemical Biology to undertake PhD degree programme. Cardiff is established as one of Britain’s leading universities. Its ambition is to be among the top 100 universities in the world and top 20 in the UK.
Applications are invited for a 3-year PhD studentship in Chemical Biology under the supervision of Dr Louis Luk in the School of Chemistry at Cardiff University. Dr Louis Luk has recently been appointed as a University Research Fellow at the University of Cardiff and is seeking a highly motivated recent graduate to join his research group as he establishes a diverse program, exploring new frontiers in synthetic biology.
Eligibility
- Open to students of any nationality;
- Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, a minimum of an upper second-class honours degree (2:1) or European equivalent and a Masters in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline;
- The successful candidate shoul have a strong background in biochemistry and organic chemistry. First-hand experience in a relevant area of chemistry such as enzymology and synthetic chemistry is highly desirable;
- Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent).
Scholarship
This studentship consists of full UK/EU tuition fees, as well as a doctoral stipend matching UK Research Council National minimum (GBR 14,057 p.a. for 2015/16, updated each year).
