Description

The European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (ERYICA) is looking for an enthusiastic and committed person with a passion for youth work, youth information and counselling, and non-profit management. The new Director will ensure the achievement of our strategic aims, hold our European network of youth professionals together, represent the organisation towards partners and stakeholders, as well as manage the team of the Secretariat.
Position: Director (full time)
Function: The Director is responsible for the overall management, growth and development of the organisation
Reporting to: The Governing Board and, particularly, the President
Location: Ideally working 3 days per week at the Secretariat in Luxembourg. Thereafter possibly relocating to a new head office yet to be identified.

Eligibility

  • EU Citizenship or valid work permit in Luxembourg;
  • University degree education or equivalent in terms of experience relevant to the post of Director;
  • Willingness to locate/relocate to Luxembourg, with regular travel in Europe;
  • Perfect spoken and written command of English;
  • Good command of one of the following languages: French, German and/or Spanish;
  • Proven leadership experience and ability to motivate and manage international teams, staff and volunteers in a cross-cultural environment;
  • Experience in sourcing finance, financial management and project management;
  • Proven interest in the civil society sector and particularly in the field of youth;
  • Strategic thinking with a team worker attitude; willing to take and bear responsibility and to work autonomously;
  • Excellent communication skills, familiarity with speaking in public and a proven record of writing in English;
  • Very well organised and ready to work under pressure, though able to distribute the workload in order to respect deadlines and agreed schedules;
  • Evidenced analytical skills and ability to handle complex information and situations;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop solutions-focused alternatives to problems;
  • Flexibility, efficiency, result-oriented attitude, attention to detail and ability to multi-task;
  • Willingness to work with a small and busy international

Desirable:

  • Good knowledge of European (youth) policy-making processes;
  • Experience in the field of youth, youth (information) work and non-formal education;
  • Experience with a European/international network in civil society;
  • Management experience in a membership-led organisation;
  • Familiarity with Erasmus+ and other EU programmes;
  • Familiarity with the Council of Europe, namely with the youth sector in general and the European Youth Foundation;
  • Ability to work efficiently in different contexts and situations;
  • Willingness to work with and for people from very diverse social, professional and cultural backgrounds;
  • Strong user-level IT literacy and knowledge of digital tools;
  • Knowledge of additional European languages will be considered an

Your tasks

The main functions of the Director are:

  • to provide the Agency with the highest standards of corporate governance, strategic oversight, compliance, advice and guidance;
  • to ensure success in the implementation of the Agency’s strategy and annual work programme;
  • to recruit, manage, support and supervise the ERYICA Staff and contractors;
  • to secure funds for activities and for the operational budget;
  • to design, supervise and report on projects;
  • to ensure visibility and sustainability of ERYICA’s activities;
  • to attend events across Europe to represent the Agency, especially vis-à-vis public institutions, partners and stakeholders (occasionally it may include weekends);
  • to attend to reports, articles, surveys and publications, also in cooperation with consultants and experts;
  • to strengthen and expand membership and the network;
  • to build and manage internal (members) and key external relations (Council of Europe, European Commission, other European and international networks/organisations);
  • to prepare the meetings of the Governing Board, and liaise with Governing Board members between meetings;
  • to prepare the annual General Assembly and Network Meeting;
  • to oversee the operation of working groups and task forces;
  • to report to the Governing Board and the Members on the annual activities of the Agency;
  • to promote and support the European Youth Information Quality Label;

  • A full-time contract (40 working hours/week), drawn in accordance and compliance with the applicable laws and regulations in force in Luxembourg, where the job will be based.
