UNYP allocates 10.7 million Czech crowns to financial aid and scholarships

The University of New York in Prague understands that financing higher education is often challenging for students, and is committed to making academic opportunities more accessible to all. UNYP offers a range of scholarships and financial aid tools to help students achieve their educational goals, regardless of their financial background.

In the academic year 2022/2023 UNYP offered financial aid and scholarships worth 10.7 million Czech crowns, more than double the amount reported in just a few years earlier. UNYP believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to receive a quality education, so we offer many scholarship and financial aid tools for new, and incoming students as well as financial aid opportunities for our existing students.

“We understand that many students look to study at UNYP and for some that opportunity is easier than for others, in that respect, we do our best to award the very best academically natured students and student-athletes the opportunity to receive scholarships to help achieve the education that they really desire,” commented UNYP’s General Manager, Sotiris Foutsis. “Last year we started the Ukrainian scholarship program for three students in need and we have decided to extend this to the upcoming student intake in September 2023 as well. This program for example covers 100% of the fees and tuition associated with UNYP studies.”

UNYP is proud to offer the following scholarship programs:

Ukrainian Scholarships: these scholarships cover 100% of the tuition for three exceptional Ukrainian students who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their education and achieved outstanding academic accomplishments, with the goal of supporting their academic ambitions and facilitating their success.

  1. Admission Merit Scholarships: these highly competitive scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated outstanding performance and potential with excellent grades and a strong academic record. The Admission Merit Scholarship can cover up to 50%, 30%, or 15% of the tuition fees, depending on the individual student’s eligibility and academic achievement.
  2. The Barbara Adams Hasek Scholarship: this scholarship is awarded annually in honor of Barbara Adams Hasek, a respected businesswoman, and philanthropist who strived to encourage higher education across all levels of society. The Barbara Adams Hasek Scholarship can be awarded to one Czech or Slovak student who, for mostly financial reasons, would not otherwise be able to attend UNYP. The scholarship covers 100% of the tuition fee for one academic year and can be renewed for up to four years, provided that the recipient maintains satisfactory academic performance and continues to meet the eligibility criteria.
  3. Sports Achievement Scholarships: UNYP recognizes the importance of sports in the development of student’s physical and mental well-being. To encourage students to pursue sports, UNYP offers sports scholarships to students who have shown exceptional athletic talent. Sports Achievement Scholarships provide a tuition fee reduction of up to 20% and are awarded to students who have demonstrated outstanding performance in various sports, including basketball, football, volleyball, and tennis.
  4. In addition, a broad selection of other scholarships, awards, and tuition reductions for all undergraduate and graduate programs are available. Many scholarships are also offered through the UNYP partnerships with the Czech Olympic Team and their Dual Career program, Sparta Floorball, Junior Achievement Czech Republic, Economic Olympiad Czech Republic and so many other financial aid options including early payment discounts and social stipends (for undergraduates), and even a full payment discount. All UNYP Alumni are given scholarship opportunities for continued studies in the UNYP graduate programs.
