Degree Completion Grants for International Students at Universität Hamburg

Deadline: 1 December (for period of funding from 1 January–30 June)
Open to: international students, enrolled in the University of Hamburg, who are not eligible for BAföG, are welcome to apply
Benefits: grants usually awarded for the period of six months, with the monthly amount of funding ranges between EUR 200 and a maximum of EUR 720

Description

Universität Hamburg is the largest institution for research and education in northern Germany. As one of the country’s largest universities, he University boasts numerous interdisciplinary projects in a broad range of fields and an extensive partner network of leading regional, national, and international higher education and research institutions. Universität Hamburg supports its international students on their way to the successful completion of their degrees with degree completion grants.

Eligibility

In order to apply for this degree grant you:

  • must be enrolled at Universität Hamburg;
  • are not a German citizens  (including if you have a double citizenship, both German and foreign, you are not wligible for this grant);
  • are not eligible for BAföG (federal student loan scheme);
  • are preparing for or are in the final examination phase of their studies;
  • have no financial support during this phase (proof required).

The selection criteria for applicants is based on financial need.
BUT doctoral researches and international students who fulls=fill the requirements of Section 8 of the German federal training assistance act are not eligible to apply for this funding.

Benefits

Those applicants who will be awarded the grants will receive a monthly amount of funding that will range between EUR 200 and a maximum of EUR 720 for a period of 6 months. Students pursuing Diplom, Magister, or Staatsexamen degrees may apply for a 12-month grant with their first application.
