Description

The Historic New Orleans Collection is offering Dianne Woest Research Fellowship to support scholarly research on the history and culture of Louisiana and the Gulf South for 2019-2020 academic year.

This is a three months fellowships programme.

The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC) is a museum, research center, and publisher dedicated to preserving the history and culture of New Orleans and the Gulf South.

Eligibility

  • Both US and international applicants are eligible to apply for this research fellowship;
  • The Woest Fellowship is open to doctoral candidates, academic and museum professionals, and independent scholars. U.S. citizenship is not required, but applicants should be fluent in English. Fellows will be expected to acknowledge the Collection in any published work drawing on fellowship research. Applicants are considered without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, disability, or any other protected status;
  • Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Fellowship

The fellowship carries a stipend of USD 4,000 per month for a maximum of three months.

In order to apply, please fill the application form.

All material should be sent by post. Please submit eight (8) collated packets comprising the following:

  • Application form;
  • A current vita;
  • A 100-word abstract of the project;
  • A research proposal, not to exceed six double-spaced pages, in which you (a) outline the scope of the project; (b) discuss the relevance of research materials at The Historic New Orleans Collection; and (c) discuss the anticipated product of your research (book, dissertation, exhibition, etc.) In addition, please submit letters of recommendation from TWO (2) scholars familiar with your work. These letters may be sent under separate cover.
