Description
The UN Volunteer will support the UN Environment Mexico country office in the development and implementation of the UN Environmen´s Green Economy Initiative and Mexico´s Climate Change agenda (through the country´s NDCs) towards the fulfilment of its commitments related in the Paris Agreement which will especially involve: i) the fostering of the private sector participation in climate change agenda by
promoting green and inclusive investments in diverse sectors; ii) implementing a national programme on PV solar distributed electric generation among Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) including the promotion of clean technology transfer in several regions of the country; iii) participate in the definition of projects related to ecosystem based adaptation on cities, Blue Economy in the Ocean agenda and the TEEB (The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity) in the agricultural and water sectors. Furthermore, the UN Volunteer will support further work being implemented by the Mexico Country Office, in areas related to climate change and biodiversity and in accordance with his/her interests and learning objectives.
Eligibility
- Master degree or equivalent (International Affairs, Economics, Public Policy, Administration, Finance, Clean Energy, Environmental areas)
- Motivated to contribute towards peace and development and to serve others;
- Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills;
- Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
- English (Mandatory) , Level – Fluent;
- Spanish (Optional) , Level – Working Knowledge.
Benefits
The Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) is paid at the end of each month to cover housing, utilities, transportation, communications and other basic needs. The VLA can be computed by applying the PostAdjustment Multiplier (PAM) to the VLA base rate of USD 1,602. The VLA base rate is a global rate across the world, while the PAM is duty station/country-specific and fluctuates on a monthly basis according to
the cost of living. This method ensures that international UN Volunteers have comparable purchasing power at all duty stations irrespective of varying costs of living.
