Description
The Center for European Studies at Carleton University (Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, Ottawa) invites applications for a position as scholar-in-residence for a period of four months, from September-December 2018. The position will involve teaching an MA-level seminar on a topic in European Union Politics; the precise topic will be determined in consultation with the successful applicant to reflect his/her scholarly expertise. The course will be cross-listed between two teaching units at the university, the Department of Political Science and the Institute of European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (EURUS). In addition to teaching, the visitor will be expected to give one research lecture at the Centre for European Studies on a topic of his/her choice. Participation in other teaching or outreach activities (such as guest lectures in other courses) are encouraged and will be facilitated. The visitor may also have the opportunity to visit other Jean Monnet Centres of Excellence in Canada.
Eligibility
Applicants must be based at an academic institution in an EU member state. They are seeking applicants with a completed PhD in a relevant field and with a record of publication, research, and teaching.
Scholarship
The scholar-in-residence will receive a stipend to cover travel and accommodation expenses, as well as a fee for teaching.

- A curriculum vitae, including a list of scholarly publications and teaching experience;
- A brief outline (maximum 200 words) of one or more potential topics for the course;
- A copy of a recent publication on a topic relating to European Union politics.
