EVS at UN International Year of Sustainable Tourism

UN International Year of Sustainable Tourism is searching for EVS volunteers for a period of 12 months. 2017 is the UN International Year of Sustainable Tourism, which will be celebrated at Hostelling International throughout the year. Lots of activities will be done in the hostels, such as swapping events, movie nights, barbeques, workshops in our Urban Garden etc.

The EVS volunteers will be responsible for our “Sustainable Travel and Hostel Life” programme, where the volunteers will have the chance to try various activities with a focus on sustainable tourism and communication.

Typical tasks for the EVS volunteers:

  • Make social events and happenings in the hostel: city walks, hikes, “coffee and cookies”;
  • Work with social media: make videos of guest activities, make interviews and blog posts for the blog;
  • Focus on sustainable tourism by measuring energy & waste, promote green travel, take part in projects focusing on public transportation, tourism and youth responsible travel.

Eligibility

UN International Year of Sustainable Tourism is looking for motivated young people (18-30) that are willing to spend one year in Norway, learning about Norwegian culture together with people from all over the world. The volunteers have to be flexible, open-minded and have a strong wish to get to know other travelers and bring people together.

Costs

Basic living costs, travel + insurance covered by Erasmus+ program. The project will start from  June 1st, 2017 for a period of 12 months.
