Description
What are the core gender challenges in the society? Who is doing what and why, are the roles different between males and female? Are youths able to reach their goals despite their sexes? Visage project was founded as a group project from the Vienna, MA in Human Rights students in January, 2015. A group of four human rights students who shared a common concern for the issue of domestic violence against women.
Global issues such as domestic violence and gender inequality are too huge for us to tackle ourselves. The best way to do this is by promoting and celebrating positive examples of gender equality. An emphasis of competition is on positive stories of gender equality locally yet and at a global level as well in order to challenge commonly held perceptions of gender roles.
Eligibility
Competition is open for every student aged 18-35, from every part of the world.
Awards
- 1 prize: EUR 300, a certificate of participation, a silver membership to VISAGE, a winning photography will be published in a Human Rights Magazine based in Vienna;
- 2 prize: EUR 200, a certificate of participation, a silver membership to VISAGE, a winning photography will be published in a Human Rights Magazine based in Vienna;
- 3 prize: EUR 100, a certificate of participation, a silver membership to VISAGE, a winning photography will be published in a Human Rights Magazine based in Vienna;
- 4 prize and 5 prize: a certificate of participation, a winning photography will be published in a Human Rights Magazine based in Vienna.
Best 50 participants with an opportunity to exhibit their photographs in an exhibition at Afro Asiatic Institute in Vienna.
How to apply?
You can participate by submitting up to three pictures of your best choice HERE that illustrate gender challenges in your community. Submissions can be humorous or serious. The competition is now open from 9th February till 9th April and the winner will be announced on the 17th May.
