Description

The contest is launched by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the first UN General Assembly resolution, dedicated to eliminating nuclear weapons and all weapons of mass destruction. The main aim of the Contest is to raise awareness of the need for nuclear disarmament and to promote a world free of nuclear weapons.

Eligibility

Anyone of any age can enter this contest, and it is open to people in all countries. Children below the age of 13 will need to have their parents’ permission, and will need to have parents (or a legal guardian) help with their submissions. Art work must be original, submitted by the artist.

Prizes

There will be three winners:

  • First prize will be USD 3,000;
  • Second will be USD 2,000;
  • Third will be USD 1,000.

How to participate?

The contest is free to enter. Submitted posters must be original and in the 60 by 90 centimeters (2 feet x 3 feet) format. Also, posters must be created using traditional methods (pens, pencils, crayons, charcoal, oil paint, acrylic paint, watercolor, etc.) or modern digital illustration process. The following judging criteria are relevant: creativity, composition, theme and technique.

You can submit your poster online latest by 24 January 2016. Winners will be announced on 5 March 2016.
