Deadline: for specific information about the deadline please contact Centre for Optics, Photonics and Lasers HERE
Open to: international students with background either in physics or electrical engineering
Scholarship: $24 000/year + payment of foreign tuition fees
Description
Applicants are invited to apply for a PhD position in the field of optical fiber transmissions and fiber devices at the department of electrical and computer engineering, Laval University. An international team of young students will participate in a project on Innovative Optical Fibers for Next Generation Communication Systems by studying the transmission of information channels over various modes within an optical fiber specifically designed to reduce mode coupling during propagation. It is expected that students will contribute to the design of these new fibers and to the study of crosstalk between signals simultaneously transmitted over several modes. The work will consist of modelling as well as experimentally characterizing the fiber and will be performed in the Optical Communications Laboratory under the supervision of Professor Sophie LaRochelle, at the Centre for Optics, Photonics and Lasers. This project is part of an international collaboration under the Horizon 2020 Programme funded by the European Commission.
Eligibility
The positions are opened for international students with background either in physics or electrical engineering.
Scholarship
Scholarship can be taken in Canada and the position is awarded for the duration of three years. The scholarship is $24,000 per year plus payment of foreign tuition fees.
How to apply?
Please send your academic record, resume, and the name of three references to Prof. LaRochelle at sophie.larochelle@gel.ulaval.ca.
