Description

International Training Programmes (ITPs) are used as one of the tools in Swedish global development policy to alleviate poverty. In co-operation with Sida, the International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD) offers ITPs as one of several methods to support institutional and capacity development at the local level in low and middle income countries. For the training “Enabling Local Democracy and Inclusive Urban Development through the SymbioCity Approach” ICLD is looking for 4 Facilitators from Georgia, Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey. The duration of the assignment will be 18 months starting in May-June 2015.

Description of the tasks:

  • The Facilitator supports the six participants in one country with their change projects. The change projects, which are all implemented in teams of 2 or 3, are related to sustainable and holistic urban planning.
  • Facilitators will participate in one day of SymbioCity-training prior to the Inception Workshop, participate in the Inception Workshop, 2 days of the
    Regional Workshop and in one National Workshop.
  • The Facilitator reports monthly to the ICLD in accordance with the reporting format, but will also receive guidance from the SymbioCity Experts from SKL International.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible the facilitators must meet the following criteria:

  • be well versed in urban planning, preferably from a holistic perspective;
  • have experience in the planning, implementation and follow up of projects;
  • understand the national urban context from a development perspective;
  • be an experienced educator;
  • have excellent command of the national language and of English;
  • have knowledge of the SymbioCity Approach and/or interested in applying this in urban planning in the local government context.

Remuneration

Facilitators will receive €500 per day of work. All travel and accommodation costs for necessary workshops are paid by the organisers.
