Description

When you join Dow Jones, you become part of one of the most dynamic, creative and savvy news and information companies in the world.  Dow Jones has produced unrivaled quality content for 125 years and today has one of the world’s largest news-gathering operations with almost 2,000 journalists in more than 80 bureaus, including the Wall Street Journal, America’s largest newspaper by paid circulation.

The Wall Street Journal Europe internship program is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students who intend to pursue a career in journalism. They are looking for interns to work in their bureaus across Europe, and in some cases there may be the opportunity of working beyond Europe’s boundaries, e.g., the Middle East.

Interns work closely with reporters and editors to deliver prompt, accurate reporting of news, features and multi-media material relevant to their beat. Interns are expected to generate their own story ideas appropriate for the section to which they are assigned, and follow the stories through to completion with supervision and guidance from an editor. They might also assist reporters and editors with story research and other assigned tasks.

Eligibility

  • undergraduate and graduate students who intend to pursue a career in journalism;
  • self-starters who understand the needs of the paper’s growing readership on various real-time, online and print platforms;
  • dedication to high journalistic standards is vital;
  • ability to work independently and under deadline pressure;
  • fluency in English and in one or more additional European language is a must.

Please note that all candidates must already have appropriate legal authorization to allow them to work within the EU.

Remuneration

This is a paid summer internship, which lasts for a 10-week period. The summer internships generally take place over June, July and August, though start dates can be flexible in certain circumstances.
