ternYpe International Roma Youth Network in co-operation with the Youth Department of the Council of Europe launches an open call for facilitators and invites young, experienced Roma and non-Roma trainers to become facilitators in the Roma Genocide Remembrance Initiative, taking place on 30 July-04 August 2014 in Krakow and Auschwitz, in order to make use of the Council of Europe handbook on “Education for Remembrance: The Roma Genocide”, intended for youth workers in non-formal educational settings working both with Roma or non-Roma young people in order to raise awareness of young people about the Roma genocide.

The event will gather 1.000 young Roma and non-Roma from all over Europe around August 2nd 2014, marking the 70th anniversary of the remembrance day of the Roma Genocide. The initiative aims at raising awareness among young Europeans, civil society and decision-makers about the Roma Genocide, as well as about the mechanisms of antigypsyism in a challenging context of rising racism, hate speech and extremism in Europe.

Eligibility

Young Roma and non-Roma facilitators and trainers of non-formal education, who:

  • have already a basic experience in leading non-formal educational activities;
  • have an experience in working with Roma youth, Holocaust and/or Human Rights issues;
  • speak English; Romanes and other languages are an additional advantage.

Remuneration

The organizers cover the travel costs, accommodation and food, as well as program costs in Krakow. They do not offer an honorarium.
