Young European Federalists-Albania is organising for the fourth year the international activity Model European Union Albania 2014, simulated by youth, from 3th of May to 11th of May 2014. After three successful editions, this year the event will be held during the European Week in Albania. MEU Albania is supported by Youth in Action Programme of the European Commission. The main goals of this edition will be the promotion of active citizenship, youth participation in democaratic processes, the imprtance of EP election and the role of youngsters in promoting active participation in election processes.
The main purpose of the MEU ALBANIA 2014 is a simulation of the decision-making processes of the EU, in the ordinary legislative procedures between the European Parliament and European Council. During the MEU 2014, you will play the roles of Ministers of the Member States of the EU, European Parliament MEPs, EU Commissioner and journalists.
This simulation, by giving a good insight to how international organizations work in general and how the EU works in particular, is dedicated to students who want to put into practice all the academic knowledge that they have to do with EU.
MEU Albania 2014 offers the right environment for people who share common passions and values towards the EU institutions to form community based on richness of ideas and variety of personalities. In the course of this event, participants debate two real-life legislative proposals drafted by the European Commission and simulate EU law-making by acting as Members of the European Parliament or Members of the Council of the European Union.
Eligibility
Interested in politics, communication and the decision-making progress? Then the MEU (Model European Union) in Albania is the thing for you. Participants are from all Europe and Albania. This should have a special interest for students who study political science, communication but also students who have an interest in politics and the EU as a whole.
Good command of English is required.
Cost
Accommodation and meals are fully covered. Travel expenses are covered 70%.
