Description

The International Center for Journalists seeks outstanding applicants for a 21-month Knight International Journalism Fellowship opening in Eastern Europe and Eurasia. Based in the region, the fellow will develop long-term sustainability plans and better management practices for a network of media organizations and investigative reporting centers in 20 countries that are part of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP). The goal is to help generate additional and innovative sources of revenue that put these organizations and centers on the path to greater sustainability.

Eligibility

  • Candidates must have strong business and entrepreneurial skills;
  • Experience in managing startups highly desirable;
  • Digital media knowledge and experience;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Understanding how to build international audiences and grow online business in a cross-border context;
  • Experience in journalism and media management is a plus;
  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in regional languages is a plus;
  • Interest in investigative reporting and online journalism;
  • Ability to work in difficult economic and political environments is desirable;
  • The fellowship is open to any nationality.

Fellowship

During the Fellowship, each Fellow receives an allowance for transportation, professional and living expenses, and an honorarium. Fellows also receive an allowance for health-insurance coverage in their home countries and emergency coverage if they are working outside their home country. Fellows receive two weeks of paid vacation per year.
