EU-Russia Civil Society Forum (CSF) is looking for an Executive Director (ED) who will be based at the Secretariat at the German-Russian Exchange in Berlin for the period from 1 March 2014 until 31 July 2015. The EU-Russia Civil Society Forum, founded in March 2011 and uniting over 120 non-governmental organizations in the EU and Russia, is a platform of civil society organizations from Russia and the EU with the purpose of developing common positions, increasing cooperation between civil society actors,coordinating advocacy activities, and making their voice stronger in interactions with the general public, governments, and other stakeholders. In particular, CSF promotes people-to-people exchanges, joint projects and solidarity actions among civil society groups. It aims to influence EU-Russia relations for the public benefit in a wide range of public and intergovernmental interactions. The CSF is currently financed by the EU and other governmental and private donors.

The Executive Director will work full-time at the Secretariat of the CSF and will be responsible for the Forum’s consistent external and internal development, financial sustainability and the overall long-term strategic development. He/She will give direction and demonstrate leadership in developing and implementing strategic goals of the Forum and represent the Forum in external contacts. The Executive Director will head the implementation of a current CSF 18-month project supported by the EU as the main donor which consists of a wide range of thematic cooperation and activities among the Forum members as well as public policy and advocacy work. He/She will be in charge of fundraising activities, general coordination of the Consortium of five organizations responsible for carrying out the project, building up the Secretariat and team-building. The Executive Director will implement these tasks in cooperation with the Steering Committee (a decision-making body of the Forum), the project team of the Secretariat, and the member organisations of the project Consortium. He/She will report to the Steering Committee, to the GRE as the lead organisation of the Consortium, and to the Forum donors.

Eligibility

  • Experience in leadership positions in non-governmental organizations, including project implementation at the international level, in particular in Russia and the EU;
  • Good knowledge of EU-Russia relations;
  • Experience in fundraising;
  • Ability to direct sound financial management;
  • Experience in public relations;
  • Strong writing and communication skills in English and Russian;
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
  • Readiness to travel regularly.

Remuneration

The organization offers a 16-month contract (32 hours per week) with a possibility to prolong the contract, subject to availability of funding, friendly working atmosphere and competent staff, an interesting job in a growing and innovative international project, involving interaction with leading non-governmental and governmental actors in EU and Russia, as well as a gross salary of about 2,900 EUR a month (depending on family status, in accordance with tax regulation in Germany).
