When you are thinking about which university to choose after successfully completing high school or a previous higher education program, it is important to consider your options. One of those is undoubtedly Anglo-American University (AAU) in Prague, the oldest private institution of higher education in the Czech Republic, and one of the oldest in the region. Since its foundation in 1990, AAU has quickly established itself as a leader among today’s European universities and a favorite study abroad destination.
With curricula that draw on the best of British and American teaching practice, balanced with Central European tradition, AAU offers students small class sizes, interactive study programs, flexible schedules, and dynamic instructors from top schools all around the world (including Cambridge, Harvard, Stanford and Yale). Our watch-words are the pursuit of excellence, respect for individual interests, and presenting an open, international environment to students from all over the world.
Hard work and diligence are encouraged by our generous system of merit scholarships, which offer full or partial tuition waivers to students with excellent grade point averages (GPA). Top students may achieve up to 100% coverage of tuition fees. And as a non-profit, we reinvest 100% of our funds into academic development.
AAU is divided into five schools: the School of Business Administration, the School of International Relations and Diplomacy, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School of Journalism, and the John H. Carey II School of Law. Together, these five provide a wide range of Bachelor and Master Degree programs, catering to diverse academic and professional interests. We also have the largest specialist library of English-language books in the Czech Republic, offering instant access to around 19,000 printed volumes, plus a range of journals, newspapers, and electronic data resources. Erasmus and other international exchanges with over 40 study abroad destinations are available to suitably qualified students. We regularly send students to Hawaii, Australia, Korea, Taiwan and all over Western Europe.
Few cities in Europe can compete with Prague’s unique combination of easy access, a thriving international community, and intrinsic beauty. With its cobbled streets, stunning palaces, parks and gardens, it justly deserves its listing as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while its numerous cozy cafes and excellent public transport make for an unforgettable experience. The AAU campus, situated in a set of three Baroque palaces in the historic Malá Strana district, only a few steps from Charles Bridge, has one of the most attractive locations of any Czech university.
