Description
The Post-Conflict Research Center would like to invite non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and civil society organizations (CSOs) involved in peacebuilding, development, human rights, and related fields to apply to participate in their annual capacity-building seminar on mechanisms for preventing and responding to genocide and mass atrocities.
This year, the 2-day seminar, done with the collaboration of the United Nations Office of the Special Advisor on the Prevention of Genocide (OSAPG), will be held from October 22 – 25 in Skopje, Macedonia.
Each year PCRC works with the collaboration of the OSAPG to hold a capacity-building seminar on Preventing and Responding to Genocide and Mass Atrocities for NGO and civil society representatives working in the fields of human rights, peacebuilding, and the prevention and prosecution of crimes against humanity.
The collaborative partnership between PCRC and OSAPG began in 2011 when PCRC planned the first seminar in Sarajevo for Bosnian NGO and civil society representatives. The seminar was organized with the intention to educate the civil society population on how to react to and prevent war crimes and genocide in a timely manner. In 2012, PCRC organized a second seminar, this time for NGO and civil society representatives from the Balkans region including Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, and Montenegro. The seminar was held in Budva, Montenegro and 20 representatives from the region were chosen to participate. PCRC will be organizing its third seminar in October 2013.
Costs
Travel, accommodation and meal costs will be covered for chosen participants.
Eligibility
NGOs and CSOs from the following countries are eligible to apply: Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Macedonia.
