The QR Art Lab invites artists and art students from around the world to participate in First QR Art Lab Competition.The main idea is to organize an exhibition with a vision that combines art, technology and solidarity, using QR codes as a starting point to create interactive artworks, useful to access contents with strong social emphasis.This call has the following targets:

  • The promotion of QR Art, understood as the creative manipulation of QR codes to generate interactive artworks within any discipline.
  • The promotion of artists and art students wishing to use the QR Art as a form of creative expression.
  • The creation of a fund of participating works in the QR Art Lab exhibition.
  • The spread of Webs which contents have high social interest.

The QR Art Lab will take place from 24th to 28th of September 2013 in the Buero Vallejo Auditorium, in Guadalajara (Spain). A group of artists from different disciplines and nationalities will be invited to participate in the creation of live QR Art from different points of view.

Eligibility

This contest is open to artists and art students from around the world.

Awards

A jury of renowned professionals from the fields of culture and artistic creation will be responsible for deciding the winning entries. Their final decision will be published on Saturday, September 28th, 2013.

  • First Prize at the Art QR Lab: €1,200, trophy and certificate.
  • Second prize at the Art QR Lab: €600, trophy and certificate.
  • Special Audience Award : €300, trophy and certificate.
  • A special award is established solely for art students: Art Student Award of the QR Art Lab : €400, trophy and certificate.

How to apply?

All participants must register by filling in the entry form, which should be completed in English or Spanish. In addition participants should provide:

  • Scanned copy of ID card or Passport of the author or authors.
  • A high quality picture of the work in case of painting techniques, graphic design and, in general, works in 2D. In the case that the registered artwork has some relief or mechanical or mobile systems, the author will send as many pictures as necessary from different angles, with a lighting that allows a proper evaluation of the work. Optionally and additionally, in this case, a brief video may be sent, if the author considers that it can show us better his work.
