Description
Australian National University (ANU) offers a wide range of scholarships to current and future students to assist with the cost of their studies. The University is committed to enabling all students, regardless of their background, to achieve their best at ANU and realise their potential. A number of ANU PhD Scholarships which provide a stipend are funded by Colleges. It is normal for recipients to undertake study on a full-time basis. However, in accordance with strict criteria, the scholarship can be awarded for part-time study. International scholars must undertake study on a full-time basis.
The scholarships are offered to students who are applying for PhD or Professional Doctorate by Research programs in any field of study. Duration is three years full-time, with a possible six-month extension.
Eligibility
Eligible to apply are candidates with Bachelors degree with at least upper second-class honours, or a Masters degree with a research component or equivalent, first-class honours, or a research Masters degree from a recognised university. The scholarships are open to Australian and New Zealand Citizens, Permanent Residents of Australia as well as to International students. Applicants must have submitted an Application for Admission to the ANU.
Scholarship
The scholarship includes A$24,653 per annum tax free, in fortnightly payments, costs of travel to Canberra from within Australia, reimbursement of some removal expenses and thesis reimbursement allowance.
Application
Apply online for admission and scholarship. The graduate research application should be lodged by the scholarship application deadline. You must indicate on your admission application form whether you still wish to be considered for admission if your application for a scholarship is unsuccessful.
Applications for international students are normally due by 31 August, and applications for Australian/New Zealand citizens and permanent residents of Australia are normally due by 31 October. However, Colleges may consider applications at any other time of the year.
Applicants are also strongly encouraged to make contact with the relevant Graduate Studies Convener or a prospective supervisor, prior to lodging an application, to discuss the proposed research topic and related matters.
