Competition Event: ecaHack Skopje 2013

Description

This year Skopje becomes a part of the series of hackathons organized in South East Europe and Central Asia, by YES business incubator as part of the network of business incubators established by the World Bank.

During the weekend April 13^th and 14^th developers, designers, hackers and other enthusiasts from Macedonia are able to join over 3500 participants in over 20 cities at the ecaHack events in the region and will work in teams to create mobile apps on all of the platforms. The event will take place at FON University Skopje.

Topic

The participants at ecaHack Skopje 2013 will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, concepts and project in direction to developing modern and useful mobile apps for an OS by their choice but focusing on the topic of Open Data Government and applications of public interest. The hackathon has the aim to attract young enthusiasts which with the assistance of the present mentors will transform the pixels of the mobile devices into highly dynamical interactive user experience, present their apps and with that compete for the awards.

The best participant/team of the event will be rewarded with:

• Six month mentoring by ECAbit (ECAbit.org) worth 5,000 euros
• Covered expenses for participation at the regional competition for mobile applications in Bucharest – ecaHack
• 2 Developer Alpha Blackberry devices
• Alcatel One touch 997

The Event Winners will participate in a Acceleration Process of 3 Months in one of our eHacks Accelerator Program Event Partners with 5 of most best Mentors from Silicon Valley, Israel and Berlin to establish sustainable businesses in the countries they were coming from.

How will ecaHack work

• It will start with a Sprint in the Morning of the first day of the Hackathon. Here, every Team will present their Goals to be achieved in the 2 Days of eHack based on the Topic for every location.
• Teams will be encouraged to collaborate, cooperate and share experience through the Hackathon. But just one Team will win this competition. The Jury will choose the last 5 local Finalists from the 10 participant Teams. This 5 Teams will make the last Presentation in front of the Jury – 15 Minutes for every Team. After this the Jury will deliberate on an Evaluation Form and the results will be transparent for all participant Teams.
• At every location there will be only ONE WINNER.

Registration

Interested team can sign up online here. The registration will start at a specific time for each of the Local Hackathons. Organizers will accept at registration Teams of 3 Persons. It would be great to have in the Team a UX/Graphic/Interaction Designer but it is not mandatory. For 1 or 2 persons please contact your local Organizer to clear you how you can build a Team at contact@yes.org.mk.

The participation in the event is FREE of charge. Meals during the event are covered by organizers.
