Prize: chance to participate in a study visit in Sweden 22-27 April 2013, or a youth exchange in Egypt 15-21 June 2013. All films will be screened nationally, and in the International mobile short film festival in Sweden 22 April 2013.
Description
The “Spring of Democracy” will bring together 48 youngsters from 4 partner countries: Sweden, Egypt, Jordan and Palestine. The goals of the project are (1) to stimulate youngster to reflect upon the human rights driven society and use to empower them to become active citizens; (2) to empower youngsters between 15-19 years old to reflect and talk about human rights, democracy and human rights by creating short mobile phone films and by enrolling them into the International Film Festival organized in April 2013 in Göteborg, Sweden; and (3) to improve the knowledge about the concept and practice of democracy and youth participation of 48 youngsters from 4 different countries by participating in a study visit and a youth exchange organized in Göteborg and Cairo/Egypt during April respectively June 2013.
For the competition for mobile short films, you need to provide the organizers with a 1-5 minute long short film on a topic related to democracy, reflecting local realities about democracy. The film may be in English or Arabic. If it is in Arabic, you are kindly requested to add English translations through subtitles.
Using the camera of your mobile phone, you need to provide the organizers with 5 photos for yourself while shooting your film and specify the type of mobile you are using.
PRIZES
Winners will have the chance to participate in a study visit in Sweden 22-27 April 2013, or a youth exchange in Egypt 15-21 June 2013. (Certain requirements apply)
All films will be screened nationally, and in the International mobile short film festival in Sweden 22 April 2013. In addition, a DVD that will be produced and distributed containing all the participating shorts.
All cultural rights will be owned by the projects and classified under creative commons. There will be a launching event (TBD).

This competition is open to youth ages 15-19 years old from Sweden, Egypt, Jordan and Palestine.
