Description
Under direct supervision of Design Centre Officer, the web design consultant develops web sites, and builds application interfaces, designs graphics and illustration materials, helps software developers in coding and programming web applications of moderate complexity, develops and maintains content management systems, helps Design Centre’s software developers in building and maintaining systems, and integrates webpages with programming modules.
The graphic design consultant designs graphics, posters, logos and documents for the Innovations Lab.
Required Qualification
Web design consultant:
1. Completion of secondary education preferably supplemented by university degree in relevant field such as graphics design or computer science, preferably a combination of both. Professional certificate or postgraduate course is an advantage.
2. Fluency in English and local working languages of the duty station.
Graphic design consultant:
1. Completion of secondary education preferably supplemented by university degree in a relevant field such as graphics design or fine arts.
2. Fluency in English and local working languages of the duty station.
Work Experience
1. Two years of progressive experience in graphics and web design.
2. Experience working in the UN or other international development organization is an advantage.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Web design consultant:
1. Develops web sites, and builds application interfaces using HTML, HTML 5, XHTML, CSS, CSS3, …
2. Designs graphics and illustration materials using graphics design tools such as Adobe Dreamweaver, CorelDraw, Adobe Flash, Adobe Photoshop, Expression web, …
3. Helps software developers in coding and programming web applications of moderate complexity using open source technologies such as Python, Java, PHP, …
4. Develops and maintains content management systems using Joomla, Drupal, WordPress, …
5. Helps Design Centre’s software developers in building and maintaining back-ends of moderate complexity using open database management systems such MySQL, SQLite, PostgreSQL, …
6. Integrates produced graphics and webpages with programming modules developed by fellow developers of the Design Centre.
7. Keeps updated on current trends in web design and techniques.
8. Ensures the web site is also translated into Albanian and Serbian.
Graphic design consultant:
1. Develops general graphic designs for Innovations Lab Kosovo publication materials: fliers, posters, handouts, banners etc.
2. Designs graphics and illustration materials using graphic design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Inkspace, Adobe Photoshop, GIMP…
3. Assists the Design Center (DC), Youth Advocacy Platform (YAP) and By Youth for Youth (ByFy) in designing project publication materials, logos, banners and related tasks,
4. Show a clear and mature style of design with an understanding to implement official UNICEF guidelines.
5. Keeps updated on current trends in graphics design techniques.
Contract Type and Duration
1. Selected candidate will be contracted under Special Service Agreement.
2. Initial contract covers the period of six (6) months, part-time 3.5 days a week, with the possibility of extension.
