Description

The College wishes to recruit either one full time or two part time (0.5 fte) Associate Research Fellow(s) to support the work of Professor Claudio Radaelli and Dr Claire Dunlop on the project Analysis of Learning in Regulatory Governance. ALREG is a multi-method four-year project funded by the ERC (2009-2013).

This post is available from 01 April 2012 until 31 August 2013. The successful applicant(s) will assist on a number of research tasks related to regulatory governance and impact assessment.

Tasks

The successful candidate(s) will contribute to the project coordinators by performing the following tasks:

  • Design and execution of experiments with policy-makers and students on attitudes towards regulatory decisions and risk
  • Finalize a dataset of administrative law to be used for research papers to be co-authored by the applicant with the project coordinators.
  • Contribute to the analysis of the policy appraisal and evaluation process in the UK by collating and examining different types of documents, such as regulatory impact assessments, evaluation studies and post-implementation reviews
  • Statistical analysis of a dataset of 500 UK regulatory impact assessments. These assessments have already been coded and data are available in Stata-Spss for analysis.

The successful applicant(s) will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Eligibility

Applicants will possess an MA MRes in politics, economics, law or European Studies, or a PhD in these disciplines. They should be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to perform duties and tasks relevant to the points 1-4 above. In case of appointing two different researchers part-time the successful applicant does not need to cover all tasks 1-4, but preferably two of them (always in the case of two part-time appointments).
