Description
The ‘UNiTe to End Violence against Women’ campaign was launched in 2008 by United Nations Secretary – General Ban Ki-moon. Its goal is to raise the public awareness and encourage political will to focus on successful prevention and putting to an end all forms of abuse and violence against women and girls from all over the world.
Trough this campaign, UN is joining up with individuals, civil society, governments, women organizations and many other kinds of social organizations to fight, prevent and punish all kinds of violence against women. This campaign is also an attempt to bring together UN agencies and offices to initiate and maintain constant action of preventing such violence.
Hence, the UNiTe contest is in a form of a T-shirt design competition in which participants from all over the world are invited to use their creativity and imagination in creating a T-shirt that would promote this initiative and would promote a future without violence.
Eligibility
The competition is opened to young men worldwide from the age of 18 to 25.
Awards
The top five winners selected by the competition’s regional and global judges, along with the winner from the Public Vote will travel to New York, USA, to receive the UNiTe awards and attend the UN official observance of the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women on 22 November 2011.
Public Vote Award
The eligible entries will be posted on the website 24-48 hours after the submission. All the entries will be available for voting until 21 October 2011. The contestant who has submitted the entry with the highest number of public votes and overall rating will be the Public award winner.
