Description

The Computational Intelligence Research Group (CA3), formed in 1996, joins together researchers with interests in the areas of Computational Intelligence, Data Mining & Machine Learning, Visualization & Image Processing and Ergonomics. The main focus, besides theoretical research, is on the application of the research topics to projects in industry and services, with special emphasis in the Space domain (European Space Agency).

After Portugal joined ESA, the group has since gone to develop over 15 projects for the various establishments (ESAC, ESOC, ESRIN and ESTEC), as well as being involved in several projects for the European Union and multiple projects for national entities, which have lead to the submission of 2 patents.

The UNINOVA-CA3 group (www.ca3-uninova.org) is offering a grant position in collaboration with the UNITE Programme.

Eligibility

Candidates should have a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent, and will participate in one of 3 topics of choice:
1. An intelligent fuzzy monitoring system
2. Parallelization of clustering algorithms
3. Fuzzy clustering algorithms
The grant is open to PhD, post-graduate students, researchers and other IT experts, from the following countries:
Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia.

The grant covers day-to-day expenses, including accommodation, and travel to and from the country.
