Web 3.0 – where is the internet heading? Who will decide which content you’ll be able to find online? And how will the web help in strengthening democracy and human rights?

For several years, multiple stakeholders in Europe and beyond have been discussing and subsequently shaping policy with regards to Internet Governance and New Media Technologies and Services, looking for ways to meet the challenges posed by ever evolving New Media.

In recent years, other stakeholders have started to recognize the importance of youth opinion on these matters and have included young people in their discussions, with youth delegations taking part in the European Dialogue on Internet Governance EuroDIG and the Internet Governance Forum IGF e.g.

With the New Media Summer School, you will be involved in internet governance and regulation issues one step further and be brought into the dialogue taking place at EuroDIG 2011 in Belgrade.

At the European Dialogue on Internet Governance 2011 in Belgrade, various stakeholders from governments, private sector and civil society will gather to tackle these questions. YOU can be a part of one of the key stakeholder groups: YOUTH. Develop your ideas with more than 20 other young people from all over Europe during the New Media Summer School, taking place from 27 May to 1 June 2011 in Belgrade – and take these ideas to EuroDIG.

The event is organised by AEGEE, the Young European Federalists, Youth for Exchange and Understanding and the European Youth Press in cooperation with the Council of Europe and the European Youth Forum.

Eligibility

Enthusiastic people from European and neighboring countries between 18 and 30 years of age who are willing to attend both New Media Summer School and EuroDIG 2011. You must be able to work in English.

Costs

There is a participation fee of 30 Euros. 70% of your travel costs will be covered. Accomodation and board for the entire duration of the Summer School and EuroDIG are fully covered.
