The Fondazione Manlio Masi, Rome, the Laurea Magistrale in Economia Internazionale and the Master in Commercio Internazionale – MASCI, University of Padova, are pleased to announce the 2nd edition of the Brixen Workshop & Summerschool on International Trade and Finance will be held in Bressanone/Brixen in September 12-17, 2011.
The general aims of the Brixen Workshop are:
– to provide advanced training in international economics and international political economy for PhD students, postgraduate students and young economists from all countries;
– to broaden the horizons of young scholars on the relevance of the economics of international trade and finance for understanding the problems and opportunities associated with current trends in the world economy and with the advancement of global economic integration;
– to allow young economists to meet fellows from different countries with a common interest in the theoretical and political problems of the world economy.
The lecturers of the 2011 edition are Carlo Altomonte (Bocconi University), Jonathan Eaton (The Pennsylvania State Universtiy), Giorgia Giovannetti (University of Florence), Philippe Martina (Sciences Po – St. Gallen University) and Peter Neary (Oxford University).
Eligibility
The Workshop is intended for PhD students, graduates or young economists and will consist of a summer school with lectures by leading scholars. Each participant is required to take active part and present a short essay on a topic related to the lectures. An International Forum on will conclude the Summer School.
Tuition fees and accommodation
The Brixen Workshop is partially funded by sponsors and partly by tuition fees. The
2011 tuition fee is € 300. The fee will cover registration and full accommodation at the
Accademia Cusano/Cusanus Akademie, Piazza Seminario 2, Bressanone/Brixen
(http://www.cusanus.bz.it) plus materials and leisure activities.
Some travel fellowships are available on demand for qualified students.

PhD students, post-doctorates and young economists willing to apply to the Workshop should submit:

The number of participants is limited to 15+3 participants from the Bolzano Province.
Applications must be submitted by June 15th, 2011. Acceptance will be notified by June 24th. Early applications are welcome.
