The Slovenia International Model of United Nations (SiMUN) is an annual simulation of the committees of the United Nations (UN).

The simulation will be dedicated to debates about:
* the crisis situation in Somalia (in the Security Council)
* water management in connection to the right of water and environmental migrations (in HRC)
* the future of the Official Development Aid
* the sovereign rights of Palestinian people over the natural resources in the occupied Palestinian territory (in ECOFIN)

The simulation will through role-playing enable the participants to obtain a multilateral view on world affairs, enhance their conflict resolution capabilities and develop their communication skills.The main goal of MUN is that is gives its participants the insight of how the United Nations actually work. Moreover it gives its participants an opportunity to tackle serious political issues and to find fresh and constructive solutions for current problems of international community.

Open to students from all the world.

Application

Download the application form, fill it in and send it together with a motivation letter (500 words) to:

When applying for the role of the representative of a country, focus on answering the questions in motivation letter regarding the stance of the country you would like to represent the most. The country you will represent will be assigned to you based on your motivation letter. You may select three states you would prefer to represent from the List of countries.

Costs

The participation fee for foreign participants is 90eur, for Slovenian participants 40eur.

With this fee all your basic expenses of your stay in Slovenia will be covered, namely:
-participation at the SiMUN 2011 simulation
-accommodation for 4 days (read more Participants/Accommodation)
-3 meals a day (breakfast, dinner and snacks during the day)
-coffee breaks during sessions
-workshops/lectures
-materials needed for the simulation
-sightseeing tour of Ljubljana (all possible admissions not included)
-a traditional Slovenian dinner
-surprises in social events

The participation fee DOES NOT include:
-costs of transport to and from Ljubljana
-personal expenses

For participants from Slovenia the participation fee includes:
-participation at the SiMUN 2011 simulation
-2 meals a day (dinner and snacks during the day)
-coffee breaks during sessions
-workshops/lectures
-materials needed for the simulation
-a traditional Slovenian dinner
-surprises in social events
