The Nature of images
Call for entries opened for the first international workshop for filmmakers in Basilicata with one of the most talented and original authors of the new international cinema, Michelangelo Frammartino. The intensive workshop will be both theoretical and practical.
The workshop is open to ten filmmakers of any age or nationality with practical experience in filmmaking (in its various stylistic and linguistics projections) and will take place in the scenic area of Teana (situated in the National Park of the Pollino, South of Italy) from December 11th to 19th 2010. Entries are free as well as boarding and lodging costs to all the invited filmmakers. Three of the ten slots will be reserved to participants born and/or currently residing in Basilicata, Italy.
Deadline for submissions next November 19th.
Prizes
The best films made during the workshop will be collected on a DVD compilation and distributed in the main international cinema circuits.
Starting from Michelangelo Frammartino poetics, each participant will have the chance to enhance their knowledge in film techniques, as well as having the opportunity to share and to compare their own stylistic and formal approach through the production of a few digital short films through interaction with the local community and their cultural identities.
Rules
* The Nature of Images international workshop is open to ten filmmakers of any age and nationality with practical experience in filmmaking.
* The workshop will be held in the Italian language with consecutive translations in English.
* Board and lodging costs are covered by the organizers.
* Participants handle travel costs themselves.
* Participants are strongly recommended to bring their own film equipments with them to the workshop, in order to facilitate their film production.
* During the workshop a professional film editor will support and/or supervise the participants for the final editing of their short film made during the workshop.

- an essay explaining your motivations for taking the workshop (at least of 3.500 characters) 2. a current curriculum vitae;
- a copy of your identity documents such as passport;
- a link from where it is possible to download a sample of your film/work (maximum 5 minutes). The video preferably be in AppleTv (Mp4) format with compression video H264 and audio AAC.
All these documents must be delivered before 12:00 noon on 19 November 2010. This is not a postmark deadline.
