The Expert seminar on youth policy approaches for access to social rights of young people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods will be held at the European Youth Centre Strasbourg on 1st-3rd December 2010.

This expert seminar is part of the ENTER! project on the access to social rights of young people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods, which is organised by the Directorate of Youth and Sport of the Council of Europe within its work priority on “Social Cohesion and Inclusion of Young People”, and in close cooperation with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities and the Directorate of Social Cohesion of the Council of Europe.

The ENTER project, run with the support of the Flemish Agency of Foreign Affairs, aims at developing youth policy responses to exclusion, discrimination and violence affecting young people in multicultural disadvantaged neighbourhoods

The aim of this expert seminar is identify, review and prioritise main issues and proposals to be taken up for a policy recommendation by the Committee of Ministers to the Member States and other areas of youth policy on social inclusion and access to social Rights for young people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods.

The expert seminar will bring together 25 participants (policy makers, youth organisations, researchers and youth representatives) for three days and will be held in English and French with interpretation.

Participants

The seminar will bring together youth workers and social workers, active members of youth organisations, as well as at young people not being part of youth organisations, youth researchers and policy makers, involved in theoretical or practical work in disadvantaged multicultural neighbourhoods. Particular attention will be given to
participants in previous ENTER activities as well as to local authorities to ensure that the results of all seminars are fed into the reflection on youth policy priorities.
All applicants must:
-be able to work in English and/or French
-be committed to attend the full duration of the meeting

Travel expenses

Travel expenses and visa fees (on presentation of the relevant receipts) are reimbursed according to the rules of the Directorate of Youth and Sport. Only participants who have attended the entire meeting can be reimbursed. Payments will be made either by bank transfer after the course, or at the end of the seminar in cash in Euros.

Accommodation

Board and lodging are provided and paid for by the Directorate of Youth and Sport at the European Youth Centre Strasbourg.
