Performing Arts Center MULTIMEDIA, Skopje organizes a regional conference LOCAL CULTURAL POLICY: Re-thinking local cultural policy: new identity and new paradigm.

The overall theme of the conference “Re-thinking local cultural policy: new identity and new paradigm” can be seen as one of the interesting, challenging and provocative topics in the local development area. It should also be counted as one of the fundamental topics for the local development in general and cultural studies in particular.

The goal is to explore the possibility and capacity that culture has and can gain on local level, as well as for social regeneration, improvement to the life quality of its citizens, as well as to its economic development.

Eligibility
* The researchers, students and academics from a wide range of disciplines from the Balkan region and abroad are invited to submit papers.

The Conference themes include
* Models of Local Cultural policies
* The power of Culture in regeneration of cities
* Participatory Local cultural Policies
* New images of the cities
* Culture, Economy and the city development
* Cultural Tourism
* Cultural industries and city development
* Local cultural policies: new models etc.

Financial issues
The conference is free of charge. PAC MULTIMEDIA and ODA will not be able to provide travel support for conference participants. It is therefore strongly recommended to apply for a scholarship or a grant from other sources.

Papers’ criteria
* Abstracts/Papers will be considered on related themes and topics from a wide range of perspectives;
* Interdisciplinary approach is especially welcome since all these topics stretch across several disciplines: cultural studies, history, political sciences sociology, anthropology, psychology, ethnology, economy, etc. Interpretations of the conference theme ranging from the predictable to the surprising are encouraged.
* The length of the final paper 6000-8.000 words;
* Papers should be submitted in English.

Submission procedure
All interested participants should submit abstract proposals (250 words) including paper title, name, address and contact of the author/s to: info@multimedia.org.mk
Deadline for abstract submission is 15th of July, 2010.

Full papers submission deadline is 1st of September, 2010.
