Fund: 2.200 € for those studying in a member state / 1.500 € for those studying in an accession country / an additional 500 € for those who will change their country of residence in order to attend the course
The Directorate General for Interpretation, European Commission offers an Interpretation bursaries, for students accepted or intended to apply for the postgraduate course in conference interpreting offered in the year 2010/2011 by a recognised university or university-level institution.
Eligibility
* applicants, who have applied or intend to apply for a full postgraduate course in conference interpreting offered for the year 2010/2011 by a recognised university or university-level institution
* applicants you are a national of an EU Member State or of one of the candidate countries (Croatia, FYROM and Turkey);
* applicants with university degree or equivalent qualification (or are in the final year of a course leading to a university degree)
* applicants who have one of the following language combinations
1. Excellent command of your mother tongue, and a perfect understanding of
a) at least one of the following languages : Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Irish, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and
b) of one or more of the following languages : Bulgarian, Czech, Estonian, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Slovene or of the language of a candidate country (Croatian, Macedonian, Turkish);
2. Excellent command of two languages (to mother tongue level) of which one is a language mentioned under
1.a above and the other one of the languages mentioned under 1.b ;
3. Excellent command of your active language and a perfect understanding of at least two of the languages mentioned under 1.a ;
Scholarship
* 2.200 € for those studying in a member state;
* 1.500 € for those studying in an accession country;
* An additional 500 € for those who will change their country of residence in order to attend the course;
* The bursary consists of one single payment.
* DG Interpretation bursary is intended as a contribution towards study expenses, but not necessarily covering all costs. It can be combined with additional funds provided by the university, by the Member State or by other public or private bodies.
Application procedure
All interested applicants should apply via online application account:
1. complete the inter-active application form 2010/2011 and upload
2. a copy of your passport or identity card
3. a detailed CV, listing all your qualifications;
Application deadline for this part of application is 16th July 2010.
Additionally the applicants need to upload to the inter-active application form following documents:
1. the university admission certificate
2. the form giving bank details (together with a copy of a bank account statement);
3. the legal entity paper (VAT number is not required for bursaries)
4. your last university degree
5. if necessary and if requested, a dossier describing the HEI and the course

The application deadline regarding these documents is 17th September 2010.
The originals of the university admission certificate, the bank details form and the legal entity paper must be sent by post before 30 September 2010 (according to the postal stamp). They will not be returned to candidates after the selection procedure has been completed.
