Positive Images Conference 2010

The British Red Cross would like to invite you to an exciting two day event exploring the role of youth in the EU in addressing the phenomenon of migration.
Day one of the Positive Images Conference will focus on sharing good practice and building capacity among participants in developing youth awareness-raising projects on migration issues. This will be of particular interest to development education and migration organisations, Red Cross National Societies as well as education policy makers and practitioners. The Positive Images grant scheme will also be launched at the conference, enabling EU Red Cross National Societies to apply for grants to fund youth awareness-raising projects.
Day two will focus on the inclusion of migration and development topics in EU education systems. This will be of particular interest to education policy makers, practitioners and organisations seeking to influence policy and practice, including applicants to the Positive Images grant scheme seeking to undertake advocacy as part of their projects. Participants will explore the need for and benefits of engaging young people on migration and development issues, the role of education in engaging young people as well as methods for influencing education policy and practice. This will be facilitated by interactive sessions and case studies. Participants will also explore practical approaches for initiating change in their local educational systems.
Please note that the language of the conference will be English. Please also note that there is no charge associated with registering for the conference. Lunch will be provided on both days. However participants are expected to meet their own travel and accommodation costs to Hungary.
