The Gwangju Biennale hosts second edition of International Curator Course from August 9 to September 5. The International Curator Course, will take place in Gwangju, Korea and it will be parallel with the 8th Gwangju Biennale. It will offer ample opportunities to better explore one of the most talked-about events in the art world. The visiting professor for this year’s course will be Dan Cameron, an internationally acclaimed curator and writer from New York. More information about him can be found here.
Deadline: 4/5/2010
In addition to Mr. Cameron, six renowned curators from different continents will be lecturing at the course and helping students gain both hands-on experience and academic knowledge through the in-depth training program.
This year’s course will deal with some of the hottest discourses in the contemporary art and visual culture, such as the emergence of market dominance and the decline of criticism, the diversification and generalization of public art, the rise of visual images and the fall of word, global scale exhibitions so called the exhibitionists’ exhibition, the relationship of technology and visual art and the violence of spectacles.
The participants will have the opportunity to take part in the process of installation of artworks for the biennale under the guidance of artistic director, curators, and artists. They will also be holding discussions on various subjects and making group presentations in the final stage of the course.
Grant
The Gwangju Biennale will grant tuitions for those who are selected to join the course and accommodations will be provided during the entire course in Gwangju. Each participant will be responsible for covering their round trip air tickets to Gwangju and food expenses during the course.
