UN Voluntary Fund: Call for Applications 2011
Deadline: 31 March 2010
The United Nations Voluntary Fund provides funding support to NGOs to implement projects that address the most severe forms of human rights violations in context of slavery.
All countries are eligible to apply .
Established by the United Nations General Assembly, the UN Voluntary Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery has “the purpose to provide, through established channels of assistance, humanitarian, legal and financial aid to individuals who are victims of contemporary forms of slavery.” Every year, it extends grant support to NGOs to implement projects that address “the most severe forms of human rights violations occurring in the context of slavery, as well as the most identifiable contemporary forms of slavery – chattel slavery, debt bondage, human trafficking, serfdom, child labor and servitude, forced labor, and/or forced marriage.” As per its grant cycle, the next call for proposals to fund projects for the year 2011 has been issued.
The Fund’s guidelines provide some insights as to what projects could possibly be funded: “Priority in allocating grants is given to projects addressing the root causes of slavery; providing direct medical, psychological, social, legal, humanitarian, educational or other forms of assistance, to victims of contemporary forms of slavery; combined with income generating activities; projects should consider the victims’ need for security, education, independence, and reintegration into society; projects should address the role that human suffering, discrimination, social hierarchy; poverty, gender inequalities and unemployment are playing in perpetuating contemporary forms of slavery; Organizations submitting applications are encouraged to integrate capacity building activities in their applications, which could include human rights and project management training.”
Application forms can be downloaded from the OHCHR website.
The deadline to submit them is 31 March 2010. A Board of Trustees in its annual session held in September 2010 will make the final decision on grantees. Grants are disbursed from October to December 2010 for activities proposed to be started in 2011. For more check the OHCHR website
If chosen totughhs create our realities and we choose which thought to listen to, then those 17 killed and their killers somehow interacted to create the actions that led to them leaving the physical relm. I would assume there were other totughhs that could have taken them another place or time that they did not listen to. From our point of view, in the reality we create, we see them, are impacted, feel the pain and must, maybe by a big deep breath and the gratitude that follow forgive them, and go on in this world. From their wounded emotional anatomy, they chose the series of totughhs and decisions that created the nightmare that finally killed them. The playing field they were on was removed from the bigger field of play on which we all exist. Maybe the gratiude and the forgivness that this pain taps can help others create a reality through choices that won’t include them in similar events. Maybe useful in the language would be to listen to the whispers before they become screams and shouts . Please note that in the above there is no thought of right, wrong, good or bad just totughhs chosen from wounded perspectives on both sides. So in summary, you don’t have to give it up it’s already changed the world of many and continues to grow daily KEEP THE FAITH RIGGS even without speaking and writing the world around you is being modified by what you think.
